This obsession with et's, horsepower and top speed sheds some light on our sports dirty little secret; alot of atvers are not very good riders. Ever hear dirt bikers argue over whether a modifed XR is quicker than a KX500? No, because two wheeled types tend to spend more time working on technique (climbing,jumping,etc) and less time building the "ultimate" sand dragster. Unfortunately atving seems to drawing alot of posers.
Is the EX underpowered? If you ride where it's flat and the trails are smooth then yea, it's a slug. For myself, at most of the places I ride I rarely can get it out of 4th gear. BTW-my usual riding partner rides a CR250 and unless the jumps are gigantic or the terrain is veticle I can usually keep him in sight. On big 5th gear sweepers I can actually pass him.

Yes, A highly modded $20,000 250r can make just as much horsepower as a stock raptor. I realize that not all that money is dumped into the motor. Average gear is 3rd or 4th, but thats an average, Every good rider uses every gear while on a trail.If top speed is not important than why do the top riders have 37hp motors? It seems to me that everyone here is misunderstanding what I am saying. Oh well. Have fun, Ride fast, Crash hard.

TRXter, excellent post! You are exactly right, I ride an RM125 and have never once argued with my bike riding buddies about which bike is faster. Now, when 2 of my Quad buddies got Raptors, they were immediately telling me how much faster their quads were and how they were going to run circles around all of our 400's. Well, they were in for a nice surprise... lol.

see these are 440's i got a 465kit with a lightned flywheel, 6 degree advanced timing, titanium valves ,Custom race cam, 3-way valve job, port polished, hot rod (rod),customed made cam chain, trued and welded ,had the crank shaved down , alcohol for my 39 fcr carb ,i got an 8 inch swing arm, chromed frame, polished head,case custom design paint on plastic
