I have a 01 honda rancher and a few weeks ago.I was riding and it died well I tried starting it and kept cranking and would not start well finally it did start and as soon as I touch throttle it dies again and takes alot of cranks to restart and idles fine just will not stay running when I hit throttle any ideas..

 

Could be a couple of things......

First, remove the fuel line to the carb and see how much fuel is flowing to the carb. There may be enough to get the engine running and allow it to idle but not enough to allow it to run above idle. Could also be that the vent in the fuel cap is plugged.

Could be you will have to remove the carb and clean it thoroughly.

 

Ok I will check those out I put a new choke cable on also I appreciate the help will post again after checking those things out thank u
