I know this is an old post, but I recently had the same problem. Just use a punch and hammer, you're going to put a little dent/damage to the outside of the cap, but it is purely aesthetic. This has worked for me every time I have a seized timing cap or flywheel access cap.

As far as the cam chain adjuster goes, nope, just pull it off using the two outside bolts. Just make sure you actually re-adjust the tensioner when reinstalling the top end (after cam chain is fully reinstalled)

Apply some heat like from a torch lighter if thats all you have & use an impact driver .... Good luck or impact gun.... Heat really does help
