I am unable to use the Electric Shift on my 1999 Honda Es 450, it has only 600 miles on it. I took it out two weeks ago for a few hours then I parked it in my garage and every think was fine, no problems shifting. I wanted to use it last Saturday and I was unable to shift up or down "nothing", I checked all the fuses under the bench also the main fuse and the one for the ES system, they are all fine. I was able to use the manual shift. I am scare to take it to my dealer my warranty is over and that dealer has no services all he wants is your money. Did that append to anybody else and if so what was the fix. Tks

I would start at the shift motor/solinoid and work back with a volt meter. Disconnect the connection, hook up and press the upshift/downshift button, if no power, go to the next connection and test. Test the switch by taking off the cover to see if it is getting power.

Replace each fuse one at a time, I don't think that the ESP fuse is on the regular fuse bank, I think it may be an inline fuse, under the seat, even if it looks good, replace it, hey its cheaper than going to the dealer, right?

Make sure, that there are no cut wires, check resistence between connections.

If still nothing, purchase the Honda repair manual. That should have the answer, and it will come in handy in the future.
