ATC 125M Neutral and Shifting problem
#1
Hi Everyone
I recently aquired an ATC 125M 1985 from a friend after it was stood in this shed for many years.
Unsure if it runs because it is stuck in top gear I think and will not shift.
Could someone firstly please confirm the shift pattern. From the case Neutral is all down and you shift to 4th is all up?? I have read that some peoples is the other way around
Anyways because I could'nt get neutral I have removed the side cover etc and have access to the clutch and transmission cog.
When you pull the lever up it will pull the star shaped thing round into third gear but when you try to go into second it does not quite pull it all the way over and simply gets stuck inbetween gears. You can push it into 2nd with a screw driver but after this is will not go down any further.
Sorry about the poor description I am unsure what the part is called. I have attached a picture to show the issue.
I have researched but everyone else seems to have a slipping out of gear issue rather than a completely not shifting. I am away till the weekend and will get into it further just would like some prior help to enlighten me before I start.
I do have the service manual but all the pictures are really unclear and dark
anybody link me to a better copy?
Any help appreciated
Thanks

No one ever responded to your post? Do you ever fix the problem? I ask because I have the same problem going on with a 1985 125m (honda) atc. It will shift into two gears only then just hangs up.
the part I found broken on mine is underneath the gear shift spindle (right where the #5 is stamped on your spindle assembly in your pic), it's a pin that is threaded on one end and screwed into the right crankcase and the bolt had broken off inside the crankcase.
I know this thread and post is an old one but I'm curious if you were able to fix it...

Hi
I thought I had posted the outcome but obviously not. Unfortunately the solution to my problem was a complete stroke of luck so I cannot really shed any light on your issue.
The gear **** fork on mine had been replaced however when it broke initially the end piece must have worked it's way into somewhere and jammed up but I cannot remember where. One day when I was looking at it and generally trying to make it shift it just popped out and from there it would shift perfectly.
Sorry I could be not more help.
If you don't already I would suggest a service manual, it's a great help.
Thanks
