Doesn't IR on a plug mean "internal resistor"?

According to the manual it means iridium tipped.

TexMud, after searching NGK-USA and NGK-LTD Japan to no avail I did find a vague reference to iridium plugs by NGK at the following NGK-UK website: http://www.ngk.co.uk/news/20010125.htm.

They appear to be new and from the news article they are listed in the 2001 Motorcycle Applications catalog...in the UK anyway.

I guess we'll find out more about it as time goes on. Meanwhile, if I were you I'd find a similar plug from NGK that will fit your Ruby and mount that $18 sucker in a trophy case on the wall! Goldwingers will flock to something that expensive, but hard to imagine much of a market in the ATV sector.

TexMud, could you please take a look at my Ruby plug at:

http://members.tripod.com/~fergiberger/plug.jpg

I have only 60 miles on the Ruby and wondered if I need to replace it already. It's obviously running rich and I wondered if letting it warm up with the choke on would do this. The gap is .81 mm. BTW, I've emailed servicehonda.com to see if I can purchase some extra plugs. Thanks a lot!

I found some information about the iridium spark plugs under the cars/trucks/suvs, here's the link.

up2snuf, If the plug still works then there is no reason to replace it. The Rubicon runs rich from the factory. You may want to look into going down a jet size. I went down to a 152 main because of this.

After reading that post I am willing to pay the price if I ever need a new one.
