My ES quit on me one day after cutting serious donuts in some soupy mud. Mud covered the shift sensors located above the left rear wheel.

The worse that happened was I had to use the manual shift and get the quad in a gear to ride back to the truck.

A trip to the pressure washer cleared the problem and the ES worked fine afterward.

I'd still buy an ES .. no question about it .. oh, and I ride with a water squirt bottle to rinse the sensor.

The ES is simply great. I have NEVER had a problem and I bring it through some pretty nasty stuff. Its also good because you dont have to let off the gas to shift. You cant go wrong for the money, and it comes with a great computer.

shifting while holding the gas will cause the clutch to slip so i wouldnt try it, or i may be wrong.

Tempest, I recall you saying that at one time you had a problem with an angle sensor. True or false?

hi,
ive owned a rancher ES since about august and have had only a few problems with it. first i was doing some serious mudding and the engine died and it wouldnt shift back into neutral to start. we let it sit and it started right up. thats about the only problem that ive had. but i would definetly go with ES for only about $300 more and floorboards.

Totally true Max but it was so insignificant that I forgot about it. We had to take the angle sensor off and apply some dielectric(?) grease. That was on the 350. The bike did not stop working/shifting but acted up for about 15 minutes after which it worked fine. But as you suggest, I did indeed have a problem at one time. I apologize for the oversight.

The 450 has never presented a problem.
