Default 2000 Honda 450 s cooling fan on all the time.

My 2000 450s cooling fan stays on all the time. I have pulled the connector off of the temp sensor and it makes no difference. Also, the speedometer quit showing the speed when the fan started acting up.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
David

The wire from the sensor switches the fan on when it is earthed, so most likely, that wire has shorted out on the frame somewhere. Honda 350s do this if the CDI has an internal fault, but I don't think the 450 uses the same CDI. Check both the speedo sensor wire and the temp sender wire, my guess is where they meet up behind the engine, you will find a short.
