Default Wiring problems

so i bought this 99 honda rancher 300 a few weeks ago from a friend . It was running great mind you i had to kickstart it to turn it on... so this guy offers to put the cylinoid on for 10 bucks . When i go to pick it up, he has it unwired at the battery and cylinoid...half the gas out of it , the spark plug out , and changed the cdi box from a 5 wire to a 6 wire??? I had to haul it home . It will not start .needless to say im pissed . Any ideas? The original cdi box is back on and its put back together ...still not firing

Fairly sure all but the last 300s had six wire CDIs, a four pin plug and a two pin plug. The colour of these plugs changed three times I think, and the wrong colour of plugs and sockets is incompatible, due to the internal electronics. So it is possible "the guy" was trying to get back to standard. However if someone changed the wiring previously, standard may not work.
