Bought a used 2015 honda rancher 420fa1 es 4×4. Not wanting to shift into 4th and 5th gear, replaced the angel sensor and the shift motor and shift solenoid. Tore down the transmission but didn't see anything broke. Can anybody help me please figure out what could possibly be causing the problem. Im to the point just saying forget it and sell to be somebody else's problem.

 

Not quite sure what you have, the FA is fully automatic, the ES is electric shift, OK you can electric shift the auto but they are different bikes. If the bike won't change into 4th and 5th using the manual shift lever, you have a mechanical fault. Both have computerised fault tracing, by flashing Morse code signals of the digital gear indicator, are you getting a code when the fault is on? The FA is too clever by half and won't change into 4th and 5th unless it thinks you are going fast enough, even in ESP mode, so are you, when you try to change into those gears?
