Whats the best way to re-attach plastic rivits to body panels?

I poped one of my rivets out and need ideas on the best way to pop it back into its hole.

They are a two piece unit. Slide the inside up almost all the way out. Then shove it in the hole and press the inside down into it. You just use you thumb.

those things are useless at the best of times

.......throw em away and use those flat head gutter bolts, put em in, do em up with a screw driver and spanner, cut off the excess thread,

puddding, those things are designed to save your fenders. If you hit a tree while in a rut, instead of ripping a hole in your fender they will just pop out. With something like a bolt....the fender will tear.
