Default 2003 400ex with no electrical power

I was riding it normally and I shut my engine off then when I hit start again the starter started spinning and would not stop. Spun until the battery died, then the battery puffed up and got really hot. I put it away after taking the battery off, and now it has no electrical power at all(No headlights, tail light, neutral light, no power to starter). Replaced the battery and solenoid and the fuses aren't blown. Anyone have a clue what is wrong?

Assuming you tried turning ignition off when the starter "ran on" original problem was the solenoid. Are you sure you put the new battery on the right way round, negative earth, as the wrong way will blow the main fuse. Check the connections onto new battery, solenoid, and earths to frame and engine, are clean and tight. Check the new battery has some power in it, some come dead flat and need charging before use. A remote possibility is the ignition switch gone bad, unlikely as it would be pure coincidence, but I have had two bikes this week which were completely dead, and both turned out to be the switch.
