Default 2016 Rancher ES not shifting when hot

2016 Rancher TRX420FA5G that is losing shifting capability when it gets hot (flashing dashed line, shift motor does not engage with button pushes). When the bike is cold or after sitting awhile it starts and shifts normally. Once it gets hot (after a long run) the dashed line appears and no gear indicator is shown. Luckily this has happened when down shifting into 1st. I can restart the bike by going from Auto to ESP and holding the right brake, but can only travel less than 10mph.
But what is causing the malfunction, from the bike getting hot (not overheated), and then returning to normal after cool down? Thank you for any advice.

I assume you have seen my post from two days ago. Very similar symptoms, and you have not got an ES you have a FA which has a different gearbox, or at least clutch and gear selector set up to the ES models. Anyway, the flashing gear indicator is Morse code, and tells you what is wrong with the system (theoretically) if you have the list of what the signal means. That list is what I was asking for, as nobody seems to have put it up on the net. We did ask a Honda dealer, who replied that "it is always the shift motor at fault" so I fitted a new one, but that has not cured it, though the owner recons the fault is now slightly different, but I couldn't understand what he meant as it still decides to fault when hot. Post up that Morse signal, something like 2 long, three short repeated, would be an angle sensor on an ES so probably is on a FA but Autos have a set of codes of their own. I did take the old shift motor apart and can find nothing wrong with it, no grease inside, brushes not badly worn and magnets still stuck firmly in place, these are the usual shift motor faults.

Thank you for the quick response. You are correct, I do have an FA - not an ES. I will note the codes next time it occurs, but still puzzled as to why the problem comes and goes with the temperature change. Literally, when the bike is cold auto shifting is normal, then when the engine heats up the flashing codes appear and no shifting.

The temperature change could be causing a change in resistance making the computer think something is wrong.
As an example i have had badly corroded wires when cold able to handle starting a car however when warm to hot the wires resistance goes up and now the car wont start.
You might look at your harness for corroded wires, especially at the connections.
