Which crush washer for Honda Recon oil drain plug?
#2
It is just an aluminium washer. I have never fitted a new one, old washers work fine, they sometimes stick to the sump. Do not overtighten the plug. Honda use a stupid system of casting a slot in the sump threads which reduces the threaded area and wakens it, I have come across many that have been stripped.

I thought I saw something about these being crush washers, but I believe when I changed in the past that the washer may be stuck to the bottom.

Haynes manual for 450 gives 18ft/lbs, I always do it by "feel." Being aluminium the washer would crush a bit when new, so theoretically a new washer would be preferable. As I wrote above, I've changed oil on hundreds of Hondas and they don't leak with a used washer.

I replace washer after every 2 times used when the washer get crushed paper thin it cant crush any more then it will start stripping threads an can crack case just make sure you remove old washer before installing new one the size is 12mm
