What's up guys-

I've been hearing a grinding noise in my skid plate area and would eventually go away... then come back... then go away... then comback... etc...
I finally looked to see what was going on...

I bent the skid plate down- and I saw a 3" x 1/8" inch gap where my brake rotar wore through the skid plate.

I'm obviously in the market for a new skid plate and would like a plate that doesn't bend when I smash a rock. I'm hearing the .190 are pretty good- but I want THE BEST and STRONGEST. any suggestions?

I've put the 22" Holeshot tires on- and it gave me about 3 inches of additional ground clearance.

Thanks for the help...

If you want the strongest swing arm guard available definitely look at the Armadillo skid plate. Its made of .250 aluminum and I've heard nothin but good things about them. My friend had a DG baja skid plate on his blaster and he dinged it up quicker than his stock plate.

I have an AC Racing swingarm on mine. I love it, even though I did bend it once. I bent it beause I wasn't paying attention and ran over a huge rock at Brown Mountain in NC. Is was barely big enough for my frame to go over the top of it, but not for my swing arm. I hit it going pretty fast. The skid plate barely bent. I would have to reccomend AC Racing for that very reason. Also, I have a PRM Full Chassis skidplate, and it holds up great. I rarely use it because it makes the engine louder, but so do all chassis skids. PRM was my first choice till I saw the price. It wasn't too bad but I didn't have the money on me and I had to ave a skidplate quick since I was going to the mountains next week. I think the PRM is $80-90. Not exactly sure though.

I have a PRM and it's heavy duty. I've been through a DG or AC and the PRM is designed much better. Also, i made a chassis skid plate from a 55 gallon plastic drum and it's indestructable, also easy to cut and free.

go with the armadillo plate. Its heavy but its bullet proof. I use mine in the hills and yet to put a dent in it. my original had holes worn in it and was thrashed. rocky mt. has them in stock.

I too would have to recommend the Armadillo skid plate. I was in the market for one a couple months ago and called Rocky Mtn. ATV. The sales lady said that they offered two skid plates for the EX, the armadillo and the DG. I asked the differences and she stated that the armadillo was cheaper by about 30 bucks, that it was thicker(stronger) and that the welds were not as neat at the DG. I needless to say ordered the armadillo. I told the lady that if someone was looking at the welds on my skid plate, I either ran them over(to which they have graver concerns that the welds) or I was on my *** on the ground with the EX on it's bars. Once again, I recommend the Armadillo. Good luck.

Thanks for the responses. Sounds as though the Armidillo is best. How much does it weigh?- How much does it cost?- and who has found the best price on it?

Thanks again...
