Really, how can I justify buying a Honda??

wyd, unfortunately, I am at the western end of the state, near the Ohio line. (near the now closed Hillville). Some of the areas you describe sound great, but are a ways off for me.
I do the bulk of my riding at Marienville/Timberline, as my wife is generally my riding partner, and it suits her ability and wishes, as well as being close to where her parents live.
You seem like a decent guy, I would ride with you anytime. (if I could keep up).

LotusPosition I wish I was closer as well. I have read a little on Marienville before. Sounds like a cool place to ride. You would have no problems keeping up with me. I ride slow as to take in the sites when I ride and besides a Sportsman 400 is far from a speed demon.
We were looking at going to Alleghany sometime to ride later in the year. We are looking into it a little more for a future road trip.
Too bad you are a little far away. I meet a lot of cool people from the web. One of my good friends lives in Ohio but I never met him in person but I talk with him every week for over 2 years now. Met him from the web talking about r/c car racing. That was my hobby until I started to ride this year.

If you do come this way, give me a shout, perhaps we can meet up. Other than the bike trail, Marienville is fairly simple riding, but there are lots of trails, and a few playgrounds along the way. The trails will close until winter in late September, so don't wait too long.

Anyone with a level head who has spent much time in this forum would probably agree that when it comes to "legendary reliability", Honda just isn't quite there. In my opinion it is for the same reason that my '98 Toyota pickup is not the same quality as my '85 model or '78 Corolla. Both are now assembled here in the US where pride of workmanship just doesn't compare with that of the people in Japan. Granted, materials have also paid the price when it come to costs. Still, many of the problems we see today can be traced back to someone on the assembly line who just didn't get a crap.
