Why does everyone pick on the 300EX?

Here is my opinion: I think all of you who say that say that real mean don't need reverse are actually jealous that we do. And why does everyone say that they are so down on power. Compared to a 400EX it's obviously not going to have more power. But those of you who have a 400EX bring it out to my trails and I will show you how well it can do against a 400EX. I had to get this off my back, it was just making me mad that everytime someone says the want to buy a 300EX someone says get a 400EX real men don't need reverse, or you will be much happier with the 400EX. Out in my trails you don't even need all of the power from a 400EX. I was just thinking, who will have back pains when they get older? Those who have a 300EX and don't have to lift the front end, or those who have a 400EX and have to lift the front end. If I were to buy another ATV soon it wouldn't be a 400EX, it would be a Raptor so I actually have reverse. OK I am done venting now....maybe.

I agree , I use to be one of those people but when My friends and I took on 3 400exs on the trail we were blowing them away , we had to wait up for them like 3 times , Yes they do have more power BUT where I ride I can beat a 400ex with my 250X , same as 300ex. Oh yea those guys didn't know the trail , but neither did I ! Where I ride it doesnt matter if you have a Raptor , 300ex , 400ex ,warrior , mojave , ect as long as it's a manual clutch you can all go at the same speed , unless your a crappy rider < maybe those guys on the 400exs just all really sukEd !

You won't hear me knock a 300EX. Had one for 2 years. Didn't purchase 400EX because it didn't have reverse. I don't think on the tight trails that we have at our property that I am any faster than a 300EX would be. Now out on the rock roads its a different story. There is nothing wrong with a 300EX but I was ready to trade up and for me reverse was the kicker and that kicked me in reverse to the yamaha shop for a Raptor. Chet

It doesn't get picked on, most reasonable people just don't consider it in the same catagory as the 400EX, Banshee, Raptor, et al. It's a fun little bike that's works great for novice sport riders or smaller riders who don't need or want alot of power. Those who think 16-18 hp is alot of grunt should spend a day on a Banshee or maybe a KX500. Thats power. The reverse is a nice feature, even though it can be a pain to use sometimes, but most people who are into sport quads are alot more interested in how fast a quad goes forwards, not backwards. As far as handling goes, even if you are very light (130lbs or less), If you start trying to clear doubles or shoot dunes you'll run out of suspension real fast.
To those who are stuck with a 300EX, who can't buy something faster, identify too closely with their machine, and desperately want some respect from the 400EX/Banshee/Quadzilla crowd, you have my simpathy. I know how you feel, since nobody likes DS's either, but I've embraced the whole "outcast bastard child" thing and really don't give a rats patootie what other people think of my toys anyway. Try just not caring and go have fun.
