I ridden a recon and I liked it, but we didn't do mud. How does it do in the mud? Does it being 2wd limit the stuff it can do?

The Recon is a great machine. It does a lot of things well including mud. Invest in some good mud tires and you will be surprised at what it will do. The nice thing with a light machine is you can rock it around by shifting your weight and keep on getting thru the mud. Don't go with oversized tires or it will have trouble getting them spinning. I'm going with a set of the new Gators soon for my 250EX. Any good mud tires will be a great improvement over the stock tires. I used to ride my Recon with my brother on his 300 4X4 and could do most of what he could do. I had to hit stuff a little faster and more aggressively but that was part of the fun. The new Recons have a little more power this year and that is a plus.

I have got my Recon in mud and it does great! But its like BK said, you have to rock it back and fourth so it will manuver through the mud easier, its like that on any quad. Especially if the mud has deep ruts in it. I have had mine through ALOMST anything a 4x4 will go through due to the power. You would be suprised on what a 2x4 250 Recon will do. My uncle has a Honda Rancher and it is 2 wheel drive and mine has been everywhere his has, except for burrying it in the creek up to the seat. (he's my neighbor by the way).
