My dealer keeps his quads marked at MSRP. I don't frequent the Honda dealer often either, so I'm not too familiar with the prices. Can you guys tell what's a good price for a 400ex? I was looking into getting one within the next 2 months. It seems like everyday I change my mind about what kind of quad I want. One day it'll be a Sportsman 500, then a 450S, then I think nah... I want a sport quad. So I want a price I can keep in mind when considering the 400ex.

Thanks

I'm going to give an opinion on Lake Honda that is completely different.
You guys are going to say that I'm saying this because I work at a dealership, but keep in mind that I don't work at a Honda dealer any more.

Lake Hill Honda is known throughout the U.S. as a top selling Honda dealer. They have an enormous sales staff and setup staff but that's about it. The statement of being "worth the drive" has two counterpoints to it.

First, if your only intention is to buy the bike and do all the work, when needed, yourself, it's a good deal. I say this because they have the worse service and parts department in the region. Why? Because he can't afford it because of the machines he sells only $100 over cost.[sometimes below cost].

You might say, well, I can carry it to my dealer in my hometown, the problem there is even if you live in New York or California, don't expect any Honda dealer to work on your bike simply because he will know where you bought it and will refuse to work on it. Honda dealers abroad have this little "hush" policy between themselves to kill off Lake Hill's sales. Don't think that because its under warranty that any dealer HAS to work on it, because while its assumed as law within Honda, it is not.

Keep this fact in mind when considering if it is "worth the drive", because you will be saying it over and over when you have to drive back to Mississippi for warranty work and then have to wait a month to drive back and pick it up.

Remember, I don't even sell Honda, but did not long ago. You might think this is far fetched or over exagerated? Go ask your local Honda dealer.

I got my 2001 400EX out the door (bike, tax, prep and a 3 yr. warranty) for $4900.00. I went to an inner city deaer I knew sold very few quads and they really wanted to move the 01's since their showroom is really small. I see you are in Ohio. You should call Nicholsons in Ann Arbor, Michigan. I have bought a few quads from them and they are always worth the 4 hour drive to get a quad for just over invoice. I got a 2001 Mojave from them for $2900 out the door and a 2001 LT80 for $1900 OTD.

knowsalot, for me service was never a problem. You see as soon a you install your 440 kit, hi lift cam and giant carb, no service department is going to touch it with a ten foot pole anyway. And what is the length of the warranty anyway, 6 months?
If you are really worried about it and you plan on keeping it stock just buy the extended warranty, trust me, any honda dealer will fix it. I had this problem a few years ago with a honda bike, bought it from one dealer took it to another for a seam coming loose in the seat, they gave me the runaround, I called american honda right from the lobby. Within 20 minutes my bike was in the service department and I got a $20 gift certificate for the "misunderstanding".

I would consider Honda East in Maumee, OH (suburb of Toledo). I bought my 2001 400ex for $5,300 plus I got the $300 Honda Bucks promotion. Give them a call at 419-891-1230. You can also check them out at Honda East . They are located just off the turnpike exit 4. You could be here from Cleveland in less than 2 hours.
