I was extending a guys 300ex swingarm last week and I sat his shock down next to some raptor shocks I was rebuilding and putting the zero preload kits on them.I notice they were the same length.I put one of the raptor rear shocks on the 300ex and it works great.More travel, compression & rebound adjustment, its like installing a after market shock. So if you guys are looking for a better rear shock a cheap way is to find a used Raptor shock, sometimes there on ebay. CRR,
The shock I picked up needed a rebuild,I lived only a few miles from Rath Racing, so I had him take care of it, he took the stock banjo type fitting and rethreaded it for a straight in fitting with a steel braided line, 10" long. It mounted up fine, but the best spot I could find was on the frame under the seat, but my son managed to come down hard enough from a jump to catch the hose with the chain (what was I thinking, mounting it above the chain !!) and ripped it and the rez loose. I was able to weld up the gash in the rez, and haven't remounted the shock yet, but I will have to look real hard at a new mounting spot, and will probably need a bit longer hose. I will get this done, and post the results.
