Recon or Eiger?
#1
I have been looking at getting my first Quads and had pretty much made up my mind on getting a Recon ES, but now looking at the 2x4 Eidger as a possible alternative. It has more power, more clearence, more accessories, more fuel, but is it any good?
I'm only looking at quads that are easy on the pocketbook since I have to buy two (wife won't let me get just one ).
Thanks!

If you search Recon in this forum you will find glowing reviews of the Recon. My own experience with the Recon was very positive. The February issue of Dirt Wheels Magazine tests the 2x4 Eiger against the 2x4 Rancher ES and gave the Eiger a very good review. The Eiger costs more than the Recon, is much bigger, so you are in a different class of machine than the Recon. Time will tell when more Eigers get out on the trails.

I just bought my first quad (Rancher 4x4). I narrowed it down to the Eiger and the Rancher. I liked the styling of the Eiger but I knew I could depend on the Honda (dealer and machine) from past experience with motorcycles ('90 Shadow & '98 Shadow Tourer). The Eiger looks to be a nice ride though. It does have more of the things you mentioned when compared to the Recon. I guess the main thing is look at both and decide which will make you(and your wife) happy. Have fun and enjoy!!

I've been a Honda man for years, so the Recon is a strong condender. I'm tring to keep the cost of both down to about 8K, so the Recon I can, the Rancher noway. That's how I started looking at the Eiger, at MSRP of $4199 I should be able to get them down some with buying two.

We borrowed a friends Recon for my wife to ride on a 2 week ATV camping trip and ever since have been planning on getting one for my wife. Now that the ES is out, that is the top contender. That said, I just got an Eiger 4x4 today (for me) and even with just a limited drive time around the house, I can tell that it is much more machine than the Recon.
Comparing the Recon to the Eiger is almost apples to oranges - the closer Suzuki match would be the new Ozark.
