What rear tires would you all recommend for a 400EX? and why?

That would depend on how you ride and where!

I like Turf Tammers for the MX track and Fast Trackers or Bandits for the trails.
The Turfs are great for the track becuse you can get more power and tourque.
I use a 22" tire for the trails so I have more clearance, also the Bandits and Trackers are tough and puncher resistance.

i usually ride on tracks and jumps, but i do a little trail riding too. However the trails are nicely made and somewhat flat. so u would recommend turf tamers?? thats what i've heard. How do they compare to ITP Holeshots?? thanks. ride on........

I run ITP Holeshots and they are a great all around woods/track tire. The hook-up is incredible.
My buddy bought Razr's the same time as I bought the ITP's. The only difference I have seen is the Razr's seem to last 3 times as long! They both are good tires (6-ply).
turf tamers are good, but at the first sign of mud, you'll wish you had the ITP's or Razr.

I grove my turfs for the mud, I tried a set of the ITP's and just didn't feel right. They do hook up good but in MX'n they seem'd to grab a bit much in the corners for me.

I started of with the stock Ohtsu's, went to Holeshots, and then Turf Tamers. The stockers were fine until I added a few mods, which added enough extra wheel spin to shred the tires in rocky terrain. The Holeshots were very durable, hooked up well, but weren't the sliders the Ohtsu's were. The Turf Tamers were great for dry and/or rocky conditions but were lousy in mud and even worse on snow.

If I had it to do over again I'd go with the Ohtsu's for Spring and Winter (mud) and Turf Tamers for Summer & Fall (dry).

I'm not a big fan of 22's for 400EX's unless they are pretty souped up. The stock bike has enough trouble getting itself up steep climbs without the higher gearing from taller tires. If you live where it's flat I guess this isn't an issue. I also like lighter tires, like the Turf Tamers, which don't rob power the way heavy duty tires, like Bandits, do.

I swear by Pure Sports Bandit XC's. They're practically indestructible (kevlar belted). And they sell for $60 per tire. They are a great tire on trails, rocks, mud, etc. Very little grip in the sand though. But that's what paddles are for.

My vote is for Razrs. I had them on my last quad, and just put them on my 400EX. I think that they corner better than Holeshots, because they are made of a slightly softer compound.

I never had any luck geeting Holeshot fronts to hold air. The sidewalls are just too thick.
