RUBICON-RANCHER SPARE PARTS LIST
#1
Hi guys,
I am getting ready to go on a couple of very rough (rocky) 4X4 trips with my Rubicon, up in the Sierras. The group will consist of a Rubicon, 2 Ranchers and a 500 H.O Polaris.
I will be way out there!!! far from any Honda service shop.
I need your opinions and knowledge. What type of spares should I have with me? By the way we will have an air-compressor maybe a welder and a full set of tools.
Thanks
Marco Polo

ON THE RANCHER AND RUBICON...
[1] Extra spark plugs
[2] Clean your air filter before heading out.
[3] Take a few dozen plastic Honda rivets with you. If it's bumpy, you will need them!!
[4] A tire repair kit
[5] An extra key!! Sounds stupid, but I get them all the time.
There are probaly a few more little things I missed, but that's all I can think of now.
ON THE POLARIS.....
[1] Easy...another Polaris for parts

Hi Knowsalot,
What about major components like U-joints, hub,tie rods etc??
Our speed at least on the rocky stuff, will be real real slow, but from
my Jeep off-road experience even at crawling speeds things tend to break.
I am going to upgrade my Dirthooks to a Bearclaw or 489 XT 6-ply tire and
have a spare wheel (tire and rim.)
As for the Polaris he actually has the advantage in this type of terrain
IFS, will have him lead hihi!! As far as reliability will see!! Will
have plenty of tow straps and possibly a winch.
Right now we are in the research/development stage, waiting for the snow to melt. We are talking 9,500 feet which brings upredictable weather even in the middle of the summer.

On sharp rocks a complete extra tire for each quad would be a good idea( with a small tire spoon and a real way to inflate them ). If you've never tested your quad that high take a smaller jet with you just in case you need to swap it out. Make sure you have real skid plates under the vitals. In major catastrophie you're not going to be able to prepare for fixing all problems, just make sure your party can tow them out.
