Have you been using Low properly? It sounds like your clutch has gone bad.

TeamridgeRubicon:

Hate to tell you this but you need a new oil pump because lot of the first Rubicon's had the pressure valves "check valves" go bad because of dirt " fillings" left in during assembly! You should take it in as soon as possible and I am sure Honda will pay for this issue because it is a very well know issue! Mine had that problem when newer , had it fixed and I now have over 7000 km and has been great. It is really to bad they had this problem but anything could happen ! So good luck with your dealer

I had the same problem my last trip up north.Talked to some ruby owners on the trail and they said they found using ESP worked great.I agree.I also tried D1 for awile and found it O.K as well.As I said before I use low to tow 40 KLM(can)and under and find it never fails me,but for speeds above 40 KLM I feel safer using ESP.Sorry to hear about the noise, please update me on this problem if you get an outcome.

Rubi Owners:

Well, I need some advice....I am going to purchase either a Rubi or an AC 500 Manual...I am buying this for a little work around the camp and especially for trail riding with my wife...I am going to purchase the kimpex atv trunk seat....which machine will handle the two of us better...I am 265lbs and she is around 165...will I have to ride in D2 or low all the time?? I am not familiar with Honda tranny but I certainly like the convenience of the manual/auto options... Also, if I go Rubi I will be installing a Warn 2500 winch and a Warn 424 select for 2wd/4wd operation... I am open to suggestions....thanks for the help...

I think the quad you want is the 500i Arctic Cat. Its got great power for the trails, hills and mud. The independent rear suspension doesn't sink down like other indenpendent rear suspesions do. The ground clearance is amazing and it already has the 2wd/4wd option and its way way way cheaper than a Rubicon. Ride both and see what you like, you won't go wrong either way.

Oh and don't get the automatic 500i, they are gutless, the manual is way better.

Thanks for the reply...I own a couple of cat sleds (1000 Pantera and 600 Powder Special EFI) and love them....the only thing I am holding up with this...she likes the auto, I like a manual...I am wondering if that Rubi tranny will hold up will both of us riding??? The AC's are tough as nails, and I know it will....also now I see Suzuki has a manual Vinson which could be impressive...lots of options to look at now.....Thanks for the help you guys!!
