I was thinking of a rear disk conversion kit for the 250ex/Recon. Just take the brake drum cover off and take out all of the Drum/brakes.. Then make a custom plate to replace it, with seals and bearings that way it would be like the stock drum cover. Then, take like a 300ex rotor, and then have it put on the axle. I think that with the drum off, and this "custom plate" would alow enough splines on the axle to have the rotor safely on there. Then just have the caliper and all of that put on there were it mounts on the custom plate. What do you guys think??? They make this kind of conversion for the Blaster, cept this is probably more pricey and complicated.

I dunno if it would increase brake performance. It probably would but not enough to put that much time into it. But if you do do it, take some pics.

I wouldn't go to that much trouble. The rear brakes are not bad on the Recon or 250EX. The problem on the Recon is the FRONT brakes. They are not great at any time and they won't stay adjusted well so they get to where they won't work. The 250EX has disc brakes up front that work very well. I would go that route if I were to want to sink money into brakes for a Recon. See if the EX brakes could fit the front.

It's easy to do it to a blaster cause you allready have a disc mounted all you need is the brkae caliper and res. off another machine. With the recon it's far more complicated. Just sell the thing and buy say........a 300EX.

I wasnt planning on making it for myself, i was thinking about it for other people for their four wheelers. Just to get better braking and longer lasting brakes. I think it would be a good little thing, it might not sell alot, but it could. Who knows

BK is right, put you efforts into the fronts. Maybe 250ex stuff would be the way to go. Anyone researched this yet?
