What is the best setup on front & rear tires for MX racing/riding on a 400ex. Everyone please give me their opinion on the best brands & sizes to use. Thanks in advance!

I dont have a 400ex, but I suggest maxxis razrs all around, they are great tires. Holeshots grip too much and the mx fronts wear too fast. turf tamer are good but cost extra to get them grooved they are pretty cheap tires too. in price that is

I would go w/ Turf Tamers for the back. They are cheap and you can leave them the way they are for hard pack or if the track is a little sandy, you can custom groove them. You don't have to have someone do the grooving for you. You could just pull out a trusty pocket knife, BUT USE CAUTION if you do that. A friend of mine ended up needing 6 stitches in his hand when used a pocket knife, even though he did say that the grooving was well worth the stitches. The 18x9.5x8 Tamers are supposed to slide better but the 18x11x8 are obviously wider which might work better for the "width impaired" like me... I don't really know about width but DEFINITELY get 18's and try to get some beadlocks or at least rolled edge wheels.

18x10x8- rear and 20x9x10- front I think. those are the razr measurements.

my next rear tire is going to be razrs, but it looks like the razr front tire would wear down fairly quick because they dont have very many knobbies...please correct me if im wrong

Two of my friends have the holeshot mx front. they wear super quick. The razrs have more tread in the center just like the other razrs, I dont know how they wear though.
