A friend of mine has a Rancher ES and she cannot drive above about 32 mph. The reason is because the front end shimmies and the tires dart back and forth something awful. It is defineatly not safe. Can anyone give me the wheel alignment specs for the Rancher. I have heard 1/2 toe in per wheel, 1/2 total toe out and it goes back and forth. Help me out here if you can, my friend can't keep up while riding because of this problem.

 

on the toe in rod when adjusting make sure you tighten the 2 nuts on each side. do you know have to set

 

i set all my quads at 1/4" to 1/2" but i like them set at 1/4" i have had good luck with this setup good luck and take your time you'll get it just keep track on the turns the you do . i mark my tierods before i move them.

 

Is it Toe In or Toe Out

 

I notice the same thing on both my Ranchers, and to some extent on the Recon. I think they just gave these things very quick steering to help make the bikes very agile. To some extent, it is due to the stock tires, but also it depends on the type of ground you are riding on. When I am on HARDPACK it is TERRIBLE, but if the surface is softer, the problem goes right away.

You are right, there are times when it could be dangerous! I had a (bad) crash that I can't attribute to anything else but this (the bike just yanked the bars out of my hands!). All these manufacturers are so worried about liability, THIS IS ONE HONDA SHOULD REALLY TAKE A LOOK AT. It seems like a good idea to play with the steering adjustments!!! Let us know if it helps, ok.
