Here's my thoughts. On a 2-wheeler, twist is great since you never really move the handlebars when you are above 15mph. On a quad when you are constantly steering the bars and streching your arms out, a twist is hard to control. I have rode many 3 wheelers and ATV's with twist throttle, and I hate them. If you hit a rock in a creek, it could cause you to jab the throttle when the bars jerk upward. Mainly though I hate sharp turns when you have the handlebars turned hard to the left and you have your arm reaching way out and trying to roll the throttle down. Twist is nice on long wide open rides though. Less fatigue on your hand.

Really It depends on what you like.I have a twist on my R for motocross.
Anything else except for drag racing my banshee,I hate thumb throttles. I think the reasons I like twists throttles so much is because I have raced dirt bikes ever since I was 6?

i've found that my twist has allowed me to be a more agressive rider. the only bad thing is on steep climbs when i'm standing up. for me the benifits
make that worth it. i got really tired of having my thumb slip off the throtle on rough trails.
