vavle adjustment for a 250ex

Sorry, I never recieved your email. Im pretty sure I didnt delete it but I might have. Its not in my junk mail either. Again my email is dick_68@hotmail.com I went to rejet my carb again today and I lost my K&N main jet size of 98 now. I let a friend borrow a 102 and 104. so now I am missing the 3 jets I need. So I went ahead and put in the 96. which is only 1 size up from stock and it's running the best I've ever had it run.(i did have a 106 in there) and I also put my stock needle on its richest position. But with the pipe, filter, and 20 inch tires... I hit the rev limiter half throttle in 5th gear. dont like that. somebody needs to make a rev box for it. But it'll probably never happen. Never know now. company's are designing high compression big bore kits for them now so I guess you never know what they will do to a recon motor. I think after I get the vavles adjusted and another rejet I might have her tuned in finally. But I really appreciate you helping me. The info will really help me out. thanks again

okay. sorry about that. I will delete everything and see. I recieved your emails about carb adjustments but not the vavle adjustments.

engine must be cold. remove heat protector. remove 3 bolts and the rear crankcase subcover from the rear crankcase cover. Remove the timing hole cap from the left side of the rear crankcase cover. Remove the valve adjusting hole caps from the cylinder head cover. Turn the crankshaft counterclockwise and align the "t" mark on the flywheel with the index mark on the rear crankcase cover. Make sure the piston is at TDC on the compression stroke. This position can be obtained by confirming that there is slack in the exhaust rocker arm. If there is no slack, it is because the piston is moving through the exhuast stroke to TDC. Turn the crankshaft one full turn and match up the "t" mark again. Check the clearance of each valve by inserting a feeler gauge between the adjusting screw and valve stem. clearance;in/ex .13mm or .005inch. Adjust by loosening the valve adjusting screw lock'nut and turning the adjusting screw until there is a slight drag on the feeler gauge. Apply oil to the valve adjusting screw lock'nut threads and seating surface. Hold the adjusting screw and tighten the lock nut. tools- 3mm wrench, 10mm offset box end wrench. After tightening the lock'nut, recheck the valve clearance. coat o'rings with engine oil and install them onto the valve adjusting hole caps. torque to 14ft/lbs. Coat oring with engine oil and install onto timing hole cap. torque to 7ft/lb. Install the rear crankcase cover with 3 bolts and tighten. install heat protector. the procedure is easy. if it seems confusing take time it is real easy. when checking clearance you have to measure by bending feeler gauge a little and measure inside out. you'll understand when you do this. its real easy. takes about 1hr to 1 1/2 hrs. on another not my carb slide sticks on my 250ex and it feels like the rev limiter . i have to loosen top of carb and mess with throttle then everything is fine.

i couldnt figure out how to space that better so its easier to read. that is word for word from manual. i got this a year ago alot neater and even printed it out. i couldnt bring it up on search. maybe someone else can. its in honda topic submitted by moto93 under 25oex valve adj. on june 22,2001

sweet. thanks a lot. This is right out of the service manual for a 250ex right? hope I can figure all that **** out now.

yeah I did a search and found it. its still here. same as yours but spaced out and easier to read.
