Ok a few monthes ago, my TRX 300 4x4 wouldnt start. When you pushed the starter it mad a clicking sound like it would if the battery was dead. But the weird thing was after you kicked it the slightest bit, not even a full revolution, the electric starter would start working. I didn't think anything of it since I could use the compression release and then move the lever with my hand and then use the starter, no big deal. But after a few months that doesnt work anymore. You actually have to kickstart it. The wierd thing is the neutral, reverse and oil temp. lights come on at idle and are fairly bright, but when the motor is reving the neutral and reverse lights go dim, same way with the headlights. At idle they're fine, though flickering a little, half throttle you can barely see them, and at full throttle, motor reved as far as it'll go you cant see them hardly at all. What's my problem here?

Sounds like two problems. One, you have a bad starter (at first, you only had a dead spot in your starter.) The second problem, which might have brought on the first problem is the voltage regulator. The only reason the lights are not always bright is that they are not getting 12 volts at RPM, the voltage regulator actually keeps the stator from putting too much voltage to the lights at RPM, without the voltage regulator, the light would blow out due to over voltage at RPM. Note that it is not uncommon for the voltage regulator to go out leaving the voltage uncontrolled. When this occurs, all the light will get really bright at RPM and then pop - game over.
If you keep ruinning your quad in this state, expect more electrical failures. Luckily, the ignition needs very little power to work. When the problem gets worse, the ignition will stop working and your quad will die.
You likely need a new voltage regulator, starter and battery (the bad regulator likely killed your battery).

Before you buy any parts, make sure to do all the obvious checks first (if you havent already done it)...make sure to check ALL the connections at the battery, at the solenoid and especially the grounds where they attach to the motor. Also make sure the motor is grounded to the frame good. Also you can test the starter by jumping directly to the stud on the starter with an isolated 12 volt source. After you have done those things you can be more confident you are not buying anything you dont need.

Yes, check all the simple things first. Most often electrical devices work fine or not at all. And even when they begin to fail, there will somethimes be warning signs when they occasionly fail as was the case with your starter. However, this happens most often when there are moving parts. Static devices almost always fail at once.
