topics like these are just plain dumb
each to his own and arguements can be made for both it all comes down to your intended use of the machine and your bank account.....
i have owned both and my warrior is worlds faster than even a piped and jetted 400EX but it took more than the price difference to make mine that fast honestly i sold my 400EX back to the dealer i bought it at because it was in the shop more than on the trail try them both them decide

99 Warrior

I was asking myself the same question the other day. The best thing for you to do is ride 'em all and see what you can handle and what you like. I rode a 400EX, Warrior, then a Banshee and I got the Banshee, and I absolutly love it. But each person has their own riding style and skill. Good luck, whether you choose Honda or Yamaha! They both kick a$$!!!

Yamaholic: Actually from what I've seen and ridden, he's exactly right. Check this out:

I rode a '94 warrior, I'm used to riding my '94 Fourtrax3004x4, and I wasn't impressed at all with it's performance. I would have thoughts a sport quad with 50 more CCs would have been way faster than mine, but the Warrior was somewhat of a letdown for me.

Adding a little fuel to the fire, don't overlook the 2001 Polaris 500 Scrambler 2x4. If you are determined to buy a 4 stroke, the Polaris has the largest displacement, is water cooled, and has reverse. If you are looking for flying your quad over jumps, then I recommend the 400ex. But, if you are looking for an all around fun machine with versatility, the 500 is a contender.

Hey y'all,
OK, first of all, mentioned earlier in this post waz a price difference of $1,500 give or take a couple hundred. It seems to me that you can buy a Warrior and then with the $1,500 bucks you got left add some mods. With that kind of money you could get a Warrior to get-up-and-go much faster than a 400EX. This is just my opinion because I have a Warrior and can't afford a 400EX. Honestly I would rather have a 400EX, but I love my Warrior too. Think about this...........

That's the best you can come up with??? "your nuts"?!? Hmmm, I'm talking from my own experiences, I guess you have a right to call me nuts for having that oppinion, but I'd bet 90% of the people here would agree with me, and the dyno doesn't lie (as shown in that link). Take it as you will, but I think the Warrior is a slow ride for a sport quad.
