rancher vs. big bear
#2
26"?
yeah they probably would be about the same
if you got thumb shift for the rancher i would get that cause you won't have to keep relacing the belts and they don't have the chance to slip...
so i am all the way with the Rancher!
P.S__don't forget both will loose some power but not alot!

the rancher would beat the BB in the mudd every time. the BB does have more power because of the cc advantage. but the trail manners of the rancher will equal the playing field out...besides on the trails you will be hard pressed to break 35 mph......the AP Sure-Trac differintial on the rancher is light years ahead of the conventional limited slip design on the BB and all other yamaha atv's. the only ones that compare are the polaris linup and the King Quad....just my two cents

I don'nt own either one but have seen both perform, the Rancher is a great trail 4X4 but when it comes to serious utility or mudding the 400 is going to come out on top every time, when you got the big meats on and the mud hole is long it takes torque to keep those tires spinning and alot of times spinning them in first gear just does'nt cut it you have to be able to spin them in 2'nd and 3rd gear too keep your momentum up.

Having seen both, I would say that they are both mud capable. However, the BB does not have a working limited slip design. The Rancher does. So when it comes to the yucky stuff, the Honda won't be pushing the front tires through the mud like the BB would. Give all quad manufacturers a year though, they will fix their front ends too.
