ES problem
#1
I have a Rancher with electric shift. As I was riding this weekend (not hard) it stopped shifting. If you try to upshift or downshift absolutely nothing happens. Since it doesn't make any noise at all, I'm thinking it's a wiring problem. I've checked the fuses and they are o.k.. Any (constructive) ideas?

THIS HAPPENED TO MINE AWHILE BACK AND A HONDA MECHANIC TOLD ME WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. CHECK THE REAR OF YOUR ENGINE ON THE VERY BACK, THERE IS A BLACK WIRE THAT LOOKS LIKE A SMALL SPARK PLUG WIRE CAP, IT PROBABLY CAME LOOSE. I FOUND THIS WAS MY PROBLEM. WHEN IT OCCURRED, NOTHING WOULD HAPPEN WHEN YOU TRIED TO SHIFT, NOT EVEN A SOUND. WHEN YOU LOOK FOR THE WIRE, YOU WILL HAVE TO GET ON THE GROUND FROM THE REAR BETWEEN THE REAR TIRES LOOKING TOWARDS THE FRONT. IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM FINDING IT, LET ME KNOW. I GAVE THIS ADVICE BEFORE AND IT WORKED, BUT THE GUY HAD TROUBLE FINDING IT. WHEN HE FOUND IT HE POSTED A PICTURE. CHECK ES SHIFTING PROBLEMS ON SEARCH IN THIS FORUM, MAYBE YOU CAN FIND IT. GOOD LUCK

I'm in the market for a new 4x4.I was wondering if the Honda ES has alot of shifting problems, and if it does would I be better off getting the S model? I would rather have the ES because of the foot boards and the minimal price difference, but don't want it to spend alot of time in the shop.Your thoughts are appreciated.
