I was wondering how much h.p. my 97' 300ex has with a k&n air filter and a fmf megamax exhaust. What are some inexpensive ways of getting more h.p.

 

I beleive stock at the rear wheels somewhere around 17hp. With your mods I'm guessing maybe 19 give or take.

 

You can drill holes in the lid of the air box. With the filter and exhaust you can change jets in the carb

I would drill the holes about 1/2". Put about 15 holes in it.
I think the original jet size is 120. I would go up one size until it started blowing black smoke then go down one size. They are avaliable at your local Honda shop. They aren't very expensive.

i only put 7 in my 400ex and notice alot of change

 

I cut out about a 4"x4" hole in my airbox. With a K & N filter w/outerware and a White Brothers E-series, I ended up running a 132 main jet and raised the needle 1 knotch. It runs good and I still go through water as deep as the tires, without any problems..Just be sure to keep the filter well oiled. This is also on a '97.
