I live in Pa. and insured my Rancher through State Farm. I got full coverage on it: $100 deductable, fire, theft, medical and liability. It came to about $200 / year. My agent stated that it was not be covered under my homeowners plan if it was lost in a fire or stolen.
Basic liability is only about $50 / year. But considering what can happen to the atv (Theft, accident while trailering or riding) the peace of mind I feel is worth it.
I didn't shop around, so you may find a better price. Good luck!

I live in Pa. too. I also insured my Rancher through StateFarm. It cost me $254 year with a $250 deductible. I have friends who pay alot less with Nationwide and other companies. But when I called Nationwide, they will not just insure my quad. ATV's can only be added to existing auto policies from what they told me. I would have to switch all my insurance to them to save a few bucks on the quad. I have my cars and house through Statefarm and don't really want to switch.
As far as is it worth it to insure them, I had insurance on mine before I loaded onto the truck at the dealer. A friend nearly totaled his 2000 uninsured BigBear ($3000 damage). I learned my lesson from him. I am not normally not a big fan of insurance and tend to buy the minimum. But these new quads are too expensive to take the chance. One roll, and the smashed LCD speedo on the Rancher would easily cost more to fix than the premium.

Check out www.weinsurefun.com
They specialize in recreational stuff like ATVs, snowmobiles, motorcycles, and even hot air balloons. I pay $150 a year. Thats only about $12.50 a month.
I think it is worth it. If you ever damage some property on accident, hit a tree, someone steels your quad, ect, ect, you will like that fact that you have insurance.
