Default chest protectors?

CTATV,
I completely agree with that statement. I've been riding for 7 years since I was 15 and never have had an incident where a chest protector would have benefited me. But this summer I'm going to race harescrambles...and although I may not need it there either...I have been hit in the chest from my buddies roosting golf ball size rock at me...And I'm just trying to find a comfortable way to reduce the bruises and having to take a hand of the bars to rub-out a hard smack in the chest!

Default chest protectors?

Try the Acerbis zoom2plus it is built for big guys...I'm well over 6foot and love mine...my protecter has saved me more than once...couple of months ago I came up short and ate by bars as I was flying past my quad....the impact broke my ribs and bruised my lungs, along with the other minor abrasions, I couldn't imagine the damage had I not been wearing the right gear...last weekend I hit so hard that it actually ripped the netting from the shoulders and broke the platic shoulder cup...that was the last fall I will take in my old Acerbis chest protector...it has earned retirement next to the 01 raptor gears on the shelf...not to worry I replaced it with the same model(except white this time)...I hope nobody ever needs thier chest protector as often as I do.

Even though they claim not to protect in the event of a crash, they do. The plastics slides and absorbs some impact.

Crashed, rolled and slid on side of helmet and shoulder onto my back. Broke the shoulder plastic, ripped the mesh on the inside (Fox Roost 2), resulted in a little soreness, $30 for replacment shoulder kit and no missing flesh on the rocky, tree lined trail.

Decided to get a little more protection when I got the DS and now I don't ride without it.
