Default Need some tips for cleaning Rancher engine.

Just wondering if anyone out there has any good tips on cleaning an engine on an ATV. Mine has that muddy look to it , and i have tried alot of stuff with no results, I actually scrubbed it to much probably and now it has also lost its shine, so also is there a paint or something to put back on. Thnx for the info people.

Or castrol super clean - really strong stuff, use that and a small brush (like and old toothbrush) then wash off. Never try to clean a hot engine as cleaner will burn on making it really hard to clean. If you want to paint your engine use high temp engine paint or even higher temp brake caliper paint from your local auto parts store.

i use greased lightning ( auto or household, it works about the same) just dont leave it on more than 8-9 secs it can eat the finish (if it can eat aluminum finish, think what it does to soot from headers

If you are really picky, get some autosol or similar metal polish and polish the shine back to new!!!

I just bought some S100 from the place where I get my 450ES worked on. This stuff is used for motorcycles, dirt bikes and ATV's. It comes in a gel spray form. I tried it today and it seems to work pretty good. It's about $10 for a spray bottle's worth, and it appears it will do my bike about 7-8 times. Not a bad deal. The good deal though is the spray-on Silkolene by Pro-prep. You spray this stuff on everything, and it leaves a thin coat of "stuff" on your quad. Then when you go riding the next time, and you need to wash it afterwards, it's supposed to shed off all of the dirt and grime. After spraying it on, your quad looks brand new! It appears to be good stuff.
