Default Rubicon v.s. Vinson

In the unlikely event of my tranny going out I will take it to the honda shop and let them fix it under the extended warranty. When my warranty expires in another 26 months I will do the work if it goes out. My friend had an 01 king quad and he had the head replaced and it was in the shop for the tranny and a couple other things while he had it for about a year and a half. He was going to buy a honda cause all of us honda guys just start'em up and go. He settled for a Eiger and when he unloaded it out of his truck it would not go into two wheel drive and this is with about 1 miles on it. The suzuki place said it would be a week or two before they could get to it when he bought it that day. That is why I like honda over most other brands.

That is a crock of BS. Your transmission in your 2003 F-150 or Ram 1500 will go out before you ever have tranny problems with a Rubicon. I don't know why people keep trying to use that as an arguing point. "Oh, well what if your rubicon transmission goes out???? I bet you're in trouble then!!!" A moot point, because its not going to go out. You are going to have absolutely TRY to mess it up yourself on purpose for that to happen.

I'll give somebody a thousand bucks right now if they can get a rubicon transmission to fit in my 660. Belt drives are crap.

And I agree with that dude that said it would be boring if everyone owned a honda too. Cause when I was younger everyone and their dog had a 250 fourtrax, except my family who had yamahas. (though we bought a 300 a year after they came out). I prefer to have a lot of different stuff around. Mix it up. Thats why I had an Arctic Cat backwhen people still asked "who makes a Arctic Cat?? Honda??"

I agree the rubi transmission is not a arguing point for relibility. I never did use it. It was all the other features the vinson has over the rubi. As someone said dealers near you or better yet a good dealer is very important. Could be the deciding factor for me. As far as taking a eiger off the trailer and not going into 2 wheel drive the dealer sure didn't do his job. Their is a checklist for them to go threw provided by suzuki! They might have even provided it to your friend. doesn't sound like they did it. I have a very good friend who bought a new foreman s a few yers ago and had a small problem with it. The dealer gave him the run around. It sure wasn't becuse it was a honda it was because the dealer didn't do their job! And as far as the king quad problems I've had one for over 5years and have worked it into the gound and it keeps going strong. I do believe very strongly in routine maint. Except fot adjusting the valves and new tires, brakes that's all I've done. It takes one big strong atv to out pull a 300 king quad. What it doesn't have for motor it makes up for with gearing! And finally if you think hondas or any other brand don't break you are very mistaken. If that was the case they wouln't need a service and parts dept. We all know better don't we!!!!!!!!!!!!! My son's honda race bike sure breaks just like his suzuki and kaw's did. The bottom line it's personel tastes, dealer availability, cost ect. What ever you decide enjoy your atv.

I had a suzuki 300, it was late 80's modle. In all the years of owning it I had not one bit of trouble and it had never been to the dealer. Give me a honda, and I bet I could break it in day of my normal riding. The first time I took my friends foreman out, I bent the tire in under the four wheeler just be trail riding.
The polaris I had was the most reliable, toughest quad I ever owned. In 4 years I never replaced, or adjusted the belt. I changed the oil and filled it up wtih gas, that was it.
Honda isnt the best thing on earth.

The warranty replaced my buddies parts on his king quad, he put about 2,500 miles on it in about a year and a half. The dealer fixed it every time and he let his brother take over payments it still runs good but the fact is that it has been in the shop several times. It is a proven design and I never said that his bike is how ever other king quad should be judged because you are more than likely not going to have problems with that model of bike. The dealer should have taken the time to do the proper setup on the Eiger but he still had to do that work because they wanted to keep it for two weeks and it was brand new. I never said that honda's do not break because they do. My buddie drounded his bike in a mudhole through the exhaust and didn't let it stand on the back rack long enough to get all of the water/mud out. When we got back on the trail it started smoking and it still runs but it needs a rebuild very bad. He also let his 97 Ragcons (recon) exhaust come loose time and time again and it finally burned up the motor, yea i guess hondas do break down.

But of course, the Ragcon can't be labeled under the normal usage category. That thing was abused from day one, and its a wonder that it held together as long as it did. Same theory applies to running a Rancher all day without any oil in it.

WOW... I guess everyone is loyal to their brand. My buddy picked up the Vinson took it out, and promptly rolled it. I guess he put it in low and tried to "engine brake" down a hill. This guy is a very good rider and owns a 02 polaris 700 that he takes up hills some wouldn`t try on a bike. So I`m having a hard time figuring out what happened. I guess he must be used to the independent susp. of the Polaris and the straight axle on the Vinson freaked him out. I rode it and it feels pretty good, a little washy in the suspension but okay. It has a good snap once the belt hooks up but to be honest, I don`t think it will outrun my ruby, it might, but I don`t think so. After he heals up we`ll line um up.
