Default New Rincon!

How does the new Rincon 650 compare to the Sportsman 700, Prairie 650, and Grizzly 660. I'm thinking about buying one and wanted some opinions. I know this is a Honda site, but I want honest opinions!

Thanks,
Colin

grizz 66 has a problem with to much plastic around motor. over heats if you are just doing long slow trail rides. SP 700 had some problems and i'm not sure if they were fixed though i would assume they were. but i dont like polaris to begin with, just have had a few problems with reliability, big problems. P 650 has power and the rincon has nice ride. i have heard it was geared high but a few honda fans on this bord set me straight on that. i would highly recomend those 2. steer clear of the other 2.

It depends on what you are looking for. I have not ridden the Rincon, I've only sat on one. I have ridden the Grizzly and the Prairie. In my opinion, the Rincon is the best looking ATV of the bunch, but is very expensive and does not have some of the advantages of the others.
Comparing it to the Prairie IN MY OPINION
Advantages: looks, ride--smoother (so I'm told) due to the independant rear suspension, no belt drive to worry about, probably better stock tires, more ground clearance with light loads BUT---independant suspension loses ground clearance with weight where a solid axle does not (excluding tire sag on both types).
Disadvantages: Price (huge difference here in Canada), no locking front differential (very important in mud and snow), limited engine braking (not much holdback at very slow speeds---similar to a belt drive system without EBS), front drum brakes VS Prairie's dual piston per caliper disc brakes (may not be much of a disadvantage), no low range for heavy utility work (the Prairie is more versatile), not quite as much power and speed, AND I don't know how smooth the Rincon's single cylinder engine is, but I do know the Prairie's V twin is very smooth and vibration free (much smoother than the Grizzly).
Ride all of them and then make your decision. Specs and looks just don't tell you enough.

You got some good replys here, one other thing I had a problem with on the Honda is there is no reverse over ride so if you need to rev it as I needed to when stuck in the snow you will just be stuck.

Thanks for the info guys. I think what I want is comfortable and dependable. I like to ride through water and rough stuff. If I did want to do some hauling on the farm, do you think the Rincon would have the power not having a low gear?

I've owned a Rincon since OCT but due to being in college dont get as many miles on it as i like. It has 400 on it so far and I have found that the engine braking is great on my machine. It is comperable to my Honda Rancher which was a gear driven transmission. My dealership messed up my first service though, so I am not sure exactly how good it will be when it is actually done right. (it is in the shop as we speak to correct this problem) However, the only thing I can think of that I don't care for is high speed cornering with IRS, but I am used to a swing arm suspension. It is a great machine though and I wouldn't hestitate to get one. It is a blast to ride.

I don't own any of them, and I also don't think any one of them is the best. I think each one of them does something better than the other one does. I have a friend that has a SP700, one with a new SP 600, one that is picking up his new Grizz 660 in a few days, one that is looking very had at a Kawi 650, and a friend that has a Rincon. They are all very happy with their choices. Each one of these ATVs appealed to each one of my friends a little different than the other.

All manufactures will let a bad one slip out once in a while, but I think they are getting fewer and far between. The quality has increased on all the ATV's, which is great for all of us.

The ATV that fits your wants and needs is the best is the best ATV. If I was to buy a new one today, I would be making a choice between two and nothing anyone could say would make me lean one way or the other (except my wife, she spends as much time on it as I do).

People should be posting what they want an ATV for and what is important to them, and see which one fill their needs the best.

We have been 110% satisfied with our ATV, but it is not the best choice for our friends. Did our friends buy better ATVs than ours? Nope. They bought ATVs that have different capabilities than ours.

Good luck with your new ATV and I hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoy ours.
