Rancher ES shifting problem
My son got back from riding my rancher and told me the ES stoped working. He said he just went through a big water hole when it happend. He used the manual shift handle to get in 1st and drive it home.I didnt think much of it because i thought it just got wet and would dry by morning.
I checked on it the next day and found it to be stuck in reverse. The manual shift handle cant even get it out of reverve. When holding pressure up or down on the manual shift you can get inbetween gear.
Its been setting for a week and still the same.So I dont beleave it to be a water problem.
Has any else had this problem or know what could be going on? If any one can help it would sure make me happy.
Thank you

Rancher ES shifting problem
If you can't shift it manually, it's not an electrical problem. Sounds like the gearshift plate, part of the shift linkage underneath the front engine cover. There's a current bulletin on this from Honda (if you have a 2001 model) and should be able to get it fixed freebie if this is in fact the problem.

Try rocking it back and forth while shifting it. There were problems with the shifters on early models of the 350 but honda had a recall on them along with some front end problems. Check with your honda dealer about this. They may have missed recalling your bike or didn't bother.Olso check your oil.
