Good luck finding them, growing up in Minnesota we NEVER could find them. The squirrals love them and will eat them up right away. Usually they shed around Januaryish.

I use to to find them at the edge of the swamp where the deer would winter, usually just as soon as the snow started melting, around April. Otherwise the mice and porcupine's and everything else would be eating them. I found some real nice ones once and was supprised that he had never been seen before. I also noticed that they would be dropped rather close, around 100yds. I have several nice Moose sheds that I have found over the years and found a couple that had been out in the weather to long but they would of been real nice for carving or knife handles. They all shed around January. They are loaded with minerals and the small critters eat them right away.

thats because the deer feels that 1 side is gone and shakes around and bangs on trees until the other comes off.
