ATV mowers
#1
Hi all,
For several months i've been searching for a mower for my 4 wheeler. I have a few acres that i want to keep under control.
There are alot of rotary mowers out there and they seem to go for alot of money. Nothing used for under about $500
Finally after alot of research i bought a flail mower made by Mathews, vintage early 70's. Having never used or seen one for that matter i was surprised at how well built this mower is.
The motor was set up so i had it rebuilt, rod, rings, valves, ignition. I sharpened the knives.
To make a long story short, the thing is an animal. I mowed 12" field of wet grass and a swamp of 4' cattails in the rain. A brush hog type of mower i daubt could do the same job.
It's too bad that these small pull behind mowers are so rare. I mainly use my wheeler for clearing land, prepping food plots and hunting. This little mower adds nicely to my arsenal of tools.
If anyone has any questions about this mower in particular i'd be happy to answer.
