You had a defective switch or some other problem then which is not unusual on the Polaris'. I've had a couple of instances when my Scrambler wouldn't go out of 4WD, but that's because there was a problem each time that needed fixed. The AWD on the Scramblers is like a clutch fan on a car, on and off as needed.

Yep, you had a malfunction in the system. That is not how the On-Demand system is supposed to work. I have had Polaris in my family since they started making ATVs. I know exactly how they are supposed to work.

I spent a lot of time on a '95 300 Explorer and a '02 Sp500 - both machines were seamless in their engagement and disengagement of the "On Demand" system.

I have a 2000 335 sportsman and I HATE it.. When its put in 4x4 it doent kick out and is very dangrous! you can be driveing strait on a flat road and the steering wheen will all of the suddon pull sharply to the left or right. and most of the time while in "AWD" you have to wrastle it to get it to turn...

That yellow lever saved my a$$ today, was climbing a steep hill with trees everywhere and came up on a deep hole, couldnt go around due to the trees, Dont believe in backing up, and had the pulling front tire up in the air along with the opposite rear tire. I never needed to use the lock before so it took a few seconds of thought, then I pulled it and it climbed right out barely spinning the tires. The guy behind me didnt have it, and fell backwards off his bike, tried to get a faster start on it and the bike went straight up. Both him and the bike are fine (minor injuries).

I KNOW what you mean .... that was my experence with my 500 HO. They tell me that is not how it supposed to be, so I guess it was screwed up from day one.

I like the P650 system much much better.
