Stuck between two quads!!
I'm looking to buy a new a.t.v . The two i really like are the Kawasaki Prairie 650 or the Polaris Sportsman 600. Can someone out in a.t.v land tell me how the 650 rides, handles, or how it stacks up against the 600. Please help me.

The 600 polaris has a better ride, weighs about 100 lbs more, is slower, and has no pull starter, oh and no lockers.
The 650 prairie has a ok ride, weighs 604lbs dry(about 640 wet), is faster, and has a pull starter and lockers.
They are bolth good machine's but i liked the prairie better for the reason's listed above.
All depends on what type of rideing you do and what you wanna use it for. Good luck.

The Polaris doesnt needa locker because when its in 4X4 mode, all 4 wheels pull equally.

It really depends on what type of ridding you do.
If you like to cruise the trails and have a plush ride, and brute power and handeling arnt your biggest concern then the Polaris would be the better choice.
If you like to ride ***** out,but still have a very capiable 4x4 then the Kawasaki is what you want.
A lot of people will disagree with me here, but the Prairie does ride pretty rough conpared to and IRS equiped machine.

Andy G, I agree. After having ridden both straight axle and IRS quads, there is no comparison on ride quality. The IRS machines have that category hands down. My next quad is definitely gonna have IRS----but I think I'll keep my 650 for when I want to ride ***** out!!!!!!
The new 650 Cat has piqued my interest. The Kawi V-twin with IRS----------------OH YEAH!!!!!!!!!

I find the ride on the p650 very comfortable, depending on which tires I happen to have on. The engine is outstanding. The kaw is reliable. A friend has 900 miles on his sportsman 600 and has already replaced the whole transmission, which just blew out. I want to believe every manufacturer is capable of building a quality/reliable machine, but polaris' just seem to break down more often.
I've read posts from people who had grizzlies, sportsmen, and other brands of 4x4s that have switched over to prairies, and are loving it. I've not yet read a single post of someone who bought a p650 and wished they got something else. You won't be sorry !
6 months, 105 hours, and 1300 miles, no problems!
