I was ridding this weekend and noticed my clutch was engaging near the end of the lever travel. I just got done lubing the cable the other day and I always leave about a 3/16" free play in the lever. It was also sometimes jumping into 1st gear when starting off. Since I'am not the original owner of this 93' I am going to assume it's the original clutch. Any tips on what to buy? I'm pretty sure I should go with heavy duty springs since the motor has 11.5:1 piston, porting, Supertrapp, Black box mod. Thanks in advance. Go green!

Did u try adjusting the cable adjuster on the clutch lever or on the motor lever. The bike should not jump when u put it into gear. try adjusting the clutch cable before you think about replacing the clutch disks.

Try adjusting the cable at the motor. If that doesn't help, buy a new STOCK clutch cable and see if that helps. If it doesn't than it's the clutch plates. I put stock ones in mine with stock springs and it has held up fine. My motor has been ported, polished, cams, 11.5:1 ceramic coated Wiseco, klr250 blackbox, and Cobra pipe.

I believe adjusting the cable only takes care of cable stretch and nothing else. If you think about it as long as you have the correct amount of free play in the lever the lever will only pull the clutch cable so far, therefore I believe my clutch plates are worn. I have replaced the cable also.
