Default unlimiter

I've been thinking about how the unlimiter could connect and work.

The CDI takes the incoming signal from the pickup coil and feeds the ignition coils. Now, if the pickup coil is a "dumb" device and the ignition coil is a "dumb" device, then the CDI is the target (obviously). It was stated previously that the speed sensor only affects bottom end. Hence, the holeshot tricking the CDI.

It is also stated that the CDI starts retarding the timing at 5000 rpm. The manual confirms this by noting a "different" timing mark at 5000rpm.

So, how could one affect, or translate, the CDI signal on the outgoing side? If the timing is retarding then how can a device speed it up? Does that make sense? The timing signal from the CDI is retarding after 5,000rpm. How does one speed up a delayed device after the fact? I suppose you could make a device to read the incoming signal and have it take over at the switch point. That seems unecessarily complicated. Maybe.

Otherwise, we have to take the incoming signal from the pickup coil and just send a flat timing trigger to the ignition coils (bypassing the CDI). That is no different than an alternate ignition the way I see it. But, if the price is right who cares.

I wonder if there are any other systems affected by removing the pickup coil from the CDI? I can't see any. With the pink wire cut, just before the CDI, the 2WD4WD actuator is not affected; because it's controller gets a feed from the speed sensor before the CDI.

What dost thou think?

This sure sounds complicated. Maybe that is why so many people has given up on it?
