Hey Toy-- I just installed a 400ex carb on my otherwise mostly stock mojave, and it barks, runs a little quieter as a matter of fact. there's a new , slight but noticeable bark immediatley off the bootom end due to the accellerator pump. I thought I would need to hog out the carb boot on the cylinder head a bit because the ex carb is 1.5m,m larger, but it was a straight bolt in. I highly recommend it.

 

WHAT KIND OF POWER DID THE 400EX CARB PRODUCE COMPARED TO THE STOCK CARB. WILL IT ****** THE FRONT WHEELS OF THE GROUND, AND DID IT GIVE IT ANY MORE TOP END, DID YOU HAVE TO REJET

 

The EX carb cleans up that little but very noticeable dead spot on the bottom end due to the accelerator pump. it breathes better on the top too, I haven't rejetted yet, but I have a dyno jet kit on the way. Made a difference so far, but to really appreciate this you will need a KLR CDI box and some bigger cams.

 

After I installed the 400ex carb on the 411 mojave, and did a lot of rejetting I took it out for a spin. With the nearly bald stock tires on in slightly damp grass it was impossible to keep the front end on the ground. Before this carb swap, you had to gun the machine and lean back slightly and the front end would rise nice and easy, quite a difference. By the way this thing will probably kill me when I bolt on my new holeshots.

what's involved in a 411 kit?

 

I don't think FST makes them anymore but we would have to hear from Mickey Dunlap to know for sure. But it is just like any other stroked big bore kit, Mickey could explain it in far fewer words than I can.

 

Hey folks- a little update here for y'all. I did some jetting on the carb today, setting the needle and changing the main jet. It runs smother- I think possibly because the whole nozzle is longer than the stock 'jave carb. But more importantly- it flat out rips now, I'm running a 170 main and have the needle set at #4. I hell/ test runed around the neighborhood as much as I could to get a feel for it becore I got the cops called on me, I have to wonder about people sometimes. But hey- I'm happy as a clam! the cams are next.
