How long will a mojave last in 5th gear full throttle?

I don't know anything about the CDI but keep in mind that too much RPM could cause an engine failure... in particular the rod or piston. You should do your best to keep the RPM close to stock. It may rev over what stock was but remember where your engine is making the most power.

it wouldnt really hurt your rod or piston, it would definatly fail at the valves and valvetrain before damaging the piston or rod, if you get heavy duty valve springs and other associated valvetrain coponents you can rev to the moon and back without a rev limiter, reason is so that you dont have valve float at high RPM

The mojave has a rev limiter , if you hold it wide open in 5th gear it will just turn up till it gets in the limiter and it will start cutting out , the limiter comes in at a fairly low RPM.

Nothing really- I've wound the **** outta mine; far past what I thought was OK for the engine, but it just keeps right with ya. The cutting out is probably the stock CDI- I think I've found the limits with mine. Really out there-- how much more power can be had with just the CDI swap?
