Default trade nyroc mod muffler for stock muffler

I have a 03 650 muffler that I have done nyroc's modification on that I will trade for a stock muffler. The exhaust sounds good, and it is in real good shape. The only reason I want to trade is I hog hunt with dogs on my 4 wheeler, and I need to quieten it down as much as I can.

Have you considered buying one of those 'stealth' muffler kits, supposed to cut noise in half, and you could take it off for trail/sport riding, then have it in "hunting mode" when you need to sneak around. Most of them run about 129 - 150 bucks, not cheap, maybe you could look into a small car muffler attached to the rear rack, and run a little steel flex pipe to it.

Which mod did you do? Like how many and what size holes did you drill? Did you leave in the spark arrester? How close are you to Dallas?

I drilled 6 7/16 holes. I cut out the spark arrestor. My buddy is a pipeline welder and he did the welding for me. I live in Arp,Tx., which is 15 miles east of Tyler. I am about 1 1/2 hours east of you.

It may be louder than I want. I was going to do the 6 3/8 inch holes without removing the spark arrestor. I guess I won't want to trade.
I go out to Gator Run quite often. Haven't been there in a while. Thats pretty close to you.

It is a little louder than the Big Gun exhaust. It sounds good, but the hogs are getting smart to 4 wheelers where we are hunting. I work pretty close to gator run. We went to Rabbit Creek and Fun Wheeler this summer.

Most of the noise comes from removing the packing at the tip of the muffler. I did 8 - 1/2" holes, and cut out the packing tube. It is quite a bit louder (sounds like a truck with a flowmaster exhaust). I'm going to try to modifiy the packing tip, so I can pop it back in (and hold it with a couple of screws or something.

The reason it's louder with the tip out is there is 2 - 1" inlets to the muffler, and 1 - 1" outlet. Removing the 1" outlet leaves a 2" hole which really makes her breath....... (and snort!)

Wires,
Thats a very interesting observation about the size of the 2 stock muffler inlets vs. the 1 stock muffler outlet. I wonder how the stock muffler would sound/peform if you simply cut out the 1" outlet to make it a 2" outlet (without doing the rest of the Nyroc Mod to it)? I can't help but think that it may be quieter than the full Nyroc mod muffler and it may still retain the added breathing capabilities of the full Nyroc mod muffler. Anyone have any thoughts on this idea?

The pipe is still only about an 1" all the way through the muffler. So without drilling holes, you still won't get optimum airflow through the muffler.
