prarie 650 or 700?
I can get a leftover 2003 Prarie 650 for $6000 OTD and they will throw in a winch for free.(the $69 winch deal is over) or I can get a 2004 700 for $6500 OTD. What should I do? I want to enjoy the ride but I am also worried about resale, I never seem to keep anything too long. Thanks

I have both 650 and 700, they both will do exactly the same amount of work. Acceleration is about the same with the 700 just barely able to outpull the 650 on a loooong stretch and the ride and handleing is absolutley identical in everyway. If you can get the winch with the 700 I would say step up to the 700, but if no winch then I would say you would be, dollar for dollar, better off with the 650 if the winch is included with the 650. The mount is still about 25 bucks which is not included in the winch package.
You will not be dissatisfied with going to the 650 over the 700, the power increase is just not enough to cry about and you will likely get a power control modual for the 650 easier than the 700 and that in itself will make up the slight difference in power. In stock trim both machines will do about the same top end speed, the 700 might get there a tad bit quicker. So if you are only concerned with how fast you will get to 2 or 3 mph faster then the 700 is for you. If you want to ride the trails then they are the same and in no way will you be able to tell which one you are riding when the trails are tight and muddy.
I also have a V-FORCE 700 and it will blow them both away. I hope this helps you some.

I agree with Bushwacked. Plus ATV's are already expensive enough as it is. Go with the 650 and use the $500 toward some
better tires and wheels. Good luck.

Here here i agree with bushwacked! If i was in your shoes, i would get the 650 and winch for 6k and put 500.00 into add on's, air filter, clutch kit, dial a jet, exaust mod., new tires.... that about eats up the 5 clams but you have a moded machine vs. a stock machine.
I will say this much i wouldn't trade my 650 for anything!!!! Well maybe the sweedish bikini team. LOL
Good luck with your decision.
